The second part of the ACMC “Crossing the Sahara (Dakar to Marrakesh) UK Tour by NURU KANE and the BAYEFALL GNAWA. The first part of this tour took place 01 -31 March 2005.

ACMC introduce NURU KANE from Senegal on his first UK Tour. The tour coincides with his first international release “SIGIL”, on Riverboat Records (UK). Nuru first came to international attention with his performance at the 2004 Festival of the Desert in Mali.

JOHNNY CLARKE / MICHEAL PROPHET (JAMAICA) + MATIC HORNS (UK)

During the years 1975 -1981, the period that Bob Marley and the Wailers shook the planet, three singers ruled the Jamaican dancehall – Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, and Johnny Clarke.
The Kings of Dancehall bill is completed by Micheal Prophet whose popularity remains undiminished through time
They will be backed by UK’s finest Matic Horns

LUCIANO, DEAN FRASER, ANDREW TOSH (JAMAICA)


ACMC has a long and successful history of presenting great reggae concerts in UK. Luciano, Jah Messenjah, is one of the greatest living legends of roots reggae music
“Reggae is a rhythm set to a poor man’s cry”. Few deliver the message better than Luciano

This tour is a celebration of the positive contribution reggae has made to music in general, and its great influence on uk pop music. Also featured are the great Dean Fraser, and , for our first time, Andrew Tosh, son of the late great Wailer, Peter Tosh.

DABE BALDE (SENEGAL)

Daby Balde is one of Senegal’s best-kept musical secrets. His musical arrangements are based on the Fula traditions from the south, and feature the fiddle and accordion, alongside the kora, acoustic guitar, and percussion. With strikingly rich and beautiful melodies, captivating vocals, and a repertoire that ranges from euphoric to melancholic, Daby’s star is now rising in the west. His debut international album “Introducing Daby Balde” on Riverboat Records (UK), has received great reviews and set him in the footsteps of Youssou N’Dour, Baba Maal, et al.

ZONGO (UK)

In the last couple of years, Zongo have been making strong waves on the London live music scene at venues like the Fridge Brixton, 333 Club, Momos, Smollenskys and the Jazz Café, and at various festivals in and around the city. Like Osibisa nearly 40 years ago, Zongo is formed around a core of excellent musicians from Ghana. In 2006, Zongo will be taking their dynamic music and carnival vibe to venues around the country

JALIBA KUYATEH & KUMAREH BAND (GAMBIA)

Jaliba Kuyateh & Kumareh Band are fast becoming Gambia’s leading music ambassadors, having recently toured USA, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Senegal, Ghana, and Spain. Jaliba was born into the family kora tradition and started playing the kora from the age of 5. The group, which also features balafon, kit drum, percussion, trumpet, and bass, have just released their eigth album “Kora Dance”

CULTURE (JAMAICA)

Culture need no introduction. One of the greatest reggae bands of all time. Led by the great Joseph Hills, this band has never taken a backward step. Over the years, they have taken their live performance to every corner of the globe and are THE greatest reggae ambassadors. ACMC is proud to once again present this band in UK where they incredibly continue creating new audiences.



SEPTEMBER

ASSANE NDIAYE & NGUEWEL GUL (SENEGAL)

Assane Ndiaye spent many years singing with Thione Seck, and has now carved out a successful solo career which is beginning to blossom internationally, in the footsteps of his mentor Thione, Youssou Ndour, Baba Maal, et al. Assane’s voice is considered by some to be divine. He sings in a traditional manner and his subject matter is more religious than political, compared to his contemporaries. On tour he will be playing tracks from his latest album “Xarit”.



OCT / NOV

GREGG KOFI BROWN/PAULINE HENRY (UK)

The voice of Osibisa with the voice of the Chimes.This UK tour is to introduce and promote Gregg’s first solo album after 22 years with Osibisa. “Together as one” (Wrasse Records), features the likes of Sting, Stanley Jordan, Gabrielle, Desiree, and Billy Cobham. Sharing the stage with Gregg is international soul diva, Pauline Henry (The Chimes), for a universal musical explosion of African rhythms, jazz spirit and Britfunk.

MIGHTY DIAMONDS (JAMAICA)

The final tour in our 2006/07 Reggae Legends Tours. The Mighty Diamonds, reggae music’s premier harmony trio. “When the right time come”, “I need a roof over my head” and many other Diamonds anthems, are some of the most popular tunes of all time.
Formed in 1969, they have since produced over 40 albums. They are remarkable for the fact that the 3 founding members have remained together for 32 years – and counting
