A&C MUSIC CIRCUIT - WHO ARE WE ?
A&C MUSIC CIRCUIT - OUR MISSION STATEMENT

”The ACMC exists to raise standards in, and the quality of awareness of, music from Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America – through tours, services, and the provision of education and training activities within a variety of cultural and artistic settings. An organisation with national brief and international dimensions, the Music Circuit seeks to forge new partnerships in order to reach the widest possible audience.”
REALIZATION
Touring:

To produce tours by international and British-based artists of the highest caliber not readily promoted by the “commercial” sector and other agencies, and to maximise attendance at these events.

Advocacy/information/services/marketing/communication:

To promote contact between musicians, promoters, organisers, funding organisations and individuals within African, Caribbean and Latin American music (industry):
To promote the development of contact between the music industry globally and the free exchange of information between those organisations for the enrichment of our areas of music in the UK.
To provide an information service to all those interested or potentially interested in our areas of music; to deal effectively with all requests for information and to incorporate new technology.
To seek funding from public and private sources for projects and initiatives which further the availability and appreciation of ACMC activity both at home and abroad. To ensure that our areas of music get an appropriate share of public funding for the arts.
Education:

Working with existing organisations and agencies to develop education projects that raise the profile of African, Caribbean and Latin American music in education in the UK – and to facilitate access to this music as part of music education in the National Curriculum.
FROM POLICY TO PRACTICE
The Circuit provides a whole range of services to artists, artiste management, producers, promoters, the music industry, and everyone else involved in the production, promotion and development of African, Caribbean and Latin American music, both nationally and internationally.

These services include advice on all aspects related to tour management. This includes advice on venues to match particular music genres, target marketing, provision and/or access to back-line and p.a. equipment, transportation, useful links with the media, both press and broadcasting, etc. In short, an A-Z in how to promote bands. For more information, please visit our link with Jazz Services, and go to Products - (Jazz) Promoters Guide – a document produced by us in conjunction with Jazz Services (and distributed through Jazz Services).

Being in the music business for over 14 years we have a wealth of knowledge and experience about artists in Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as artists from these parts of the world that living in Europe. We keep a constant look out on factors affecting the touring of visiting artists, including government legislature (both British and foreign governments); tax issues; advice and assistance with visas and work permits; flights; UK hotels; etc.

The Circuit has knowledge of UK geographical areas where certain African, Caribbean and Latin American communities reside and therefore target the tour appropriately in order to reach those communities as well as the general population.

We also have many contacts with many music industry bodies, including recording and distribution companies. We are thus able to offer advice to artists and management on a number of music industry issues, regardless of music genre.

Other services include assistance with grant applications to government bodies, quangos, trusts and foundations.
